Mary Brinegar recently was named the new president of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Society Inc.
Brinegar, who most recently served as the Dallas Opera’s associate general director, has nearly 20 years of leadership in the nonprofit field.
At the opera, Brinegar created a planned giving department, initiated the Season Synopsis Cassette and Opera Overtures lectures, procured an National Endowment for the Arts Challenge Grant and developed a community outreach program.
She also previously worked with the Science Place in its transition to the current Fair Park location and with Friends of 13, which raises funds for KERA/Channel 13.
Brinegar replaces Jack Gorman, who resigned in December to return to private business.
