In a statement, authorities said that 29-year-old Michael Lucky and 32-year-old Keith Johnson were responsible for the shooting.

Homicide detectives obtained capital murder warrants for their arrests Oct. 19, according to the statement.

Johnson, who was in jail on unrelated charges, was additionally charged with murder and held on $500,000 bond. Lucky turned himself into police Monday.

Emmett died Sept. 23 after an altercation outside his home in the 1800 block of North Prairie Avenue. He was sitting in his vehicle when two people approached. An individual pulled out a gun, and Emmett was shot as he tried to run away.

The basketball star played for Texas Tech before making the jump to the NBA, where he played for the Brooklyn Nets and Memphis Grizzlies.
