The Ferguson Road Initiative and the City of Dallas worked very hard to make their dream of a public library a reality, says Ferguson Road Initiative president Vikki Martin.

Strategic planning made it possible, Martin says, because “a dream without a plan becomes a hallucination.”

A public sculpture outside the library will be made and dedicated this fall, Martin says.

The celebration began with a parade with African drummers and Aztec dancers. It continued with storytelling, art demonstrations and performances by the Dallas Police Department Choir.

White Rock Hills Branch Library is located at 9150 Ferguson Road.
