We prefer White Rock Coffee to Starbucks and a night out at the Dallas Arboretum with our honey rather than a trip to Uptown’s trendy restaurants. We are Lakewood, it’s just what we like, which was made apparent in the annual Advocate Best Of contest.
While other contests focus on the entire city, ours looks only at the Best Of our neighborhood. It highlights the places and spaces that are beloved by our readers, not some corporate marketing team, and it shows what we value as a community.
When looking for a raucous night out, our readers suggest hitting Truck Yard for a beer in the treetop bar. But if you’re in the mood for a classic watering hole, you won’t find something more Lakewood than the Balcony Club by the theater.
If you’re looking for a place to work out, especially one where you’re likely to run into a neighbor or five, you’ll want to head to the White Rock YMCA. When it’s time for the pooch to get a summer cut, it’s Vhea’s Laundromutt that our readers recommend.
And when you just need to get away from it all and relax, or want to show off the best attraction in the neighborhood, just head over to White Rock Lake and bask in the natural beauty.
