The Dallas Police Department is warning of a serial carjacker in Northeast Dallas. The Morning News reported today that women between the ages of 26 and 87 have been robbed by a man who brandished a knife in at least one case claimed to have a gun in another. In five cases since February, the women were told to hand over their purses and keys, and the robber fled with their vehicles. All of the attacks have occurred near Mockingbird Lane, roughly between Central Expressway and Abrams. Four of the attacks occurred during daylight, and one was in the parking lot of a Chase Bank at Central and Mockingbird.
None of the women were injured, and most of the cars were found stripped in South Dallas.
The DPD public information office is "swamped" today, but assures us that someone will be calling us back before the day is over, so we’ll have more on this.
