On May 8, The Woodrow Wilson High School robotics club and Young Life Lakewood offer a 6:30 p.m. screening of the documentary, “SlingShot,” about engineer Dean Kamen’s water purification system, the SlingShot. Also on May 8, attend the Art to Beat Cancer event benefiting Children’s Medical Center Research Institute from 6-8 p.m. just across Central at the Miller Special Event Center in Moody Coliseum on the Southern Methodist University campus. Southern Methodist University alumnus, Doyle Glass, will host the inaugural event in Dallas in honor of his late wife, Kim Hazelwood Glass. The event, previously held in Louisville, Kentucky has raised $250,000 for cancer research to date. The Kim Hazelwood Glass Endowment will match all sales from works of art sold at the event. Proceeds will go directly to cancer research at CRI Foundation.

The Dallas Arboretum is hosting its annual concert series. Every Thursday night, the Arboretum hosts a different band on the Martin Rutchik Concert Stage and Lawn. Bring your family and friends and your favorite food and drinks, and enjoy a concert overlooking White Rock Lake.
