It has not been a good year for $10 wine (more on that later), but it has been a very good year for $12 and $13 wine. Case in point: the 2006 Terrazas de los Andes chardonnay (available at Central Market). It’s clean and crisp with what the wine geeks call tropical flavors and just a hint of vanilla and caramel from oak aging. Best yet, it has a screw top and isn’t high in alcohol, like some California chardonnays. This is a fish and chicken wine, courtesy of a top-flight Chilean producer.
