I did end up heading to Super Target on Tuesday night to join the local business version of National Night Out. (My husband later asked me: "Doesn’t that defeat the point of National Night Out? It’s a neighborhood thing." Good point, but some of us don’t live in well-defined neighborhoods, and we deserve a National Night Out, too. Plus, Super Target had really cool raffle prizes — gift cards to Subway, Mariano’s and, of course, Target, plus gift bags of stuff like the British line of Boots beauty products.)

Anyway, I digress. I met a guy there named Bob Sanders, who works in the Target cafe. He told me he reads the magazine regularly, said some really kind things about it, and then mentioned a mid-’80s publication called "East Dallas Today" that he used to write for and helped publish. I didn’t live in Dallas at that time, but am curious to know: Does anyone remember this retired neighborhood rag?

I also asked Bob what people liked to eat in the Target cafe. He told me what they don’t like to eat: turkey meatloaf. Just a word to the wise.
