For years, people pined for a single Trader Joe’s around here, and now they’re practically littering the landscape.
Steve Brown with the DMN says the grocer will be an anchor to a development on Cole between Knox and Armstrong that will replace Ed Kellum & Son., a longtime appliance store, as well as a couple of spots that were home to the restaurants Taverna and La Fiorentina. Additional retail and the ubiquitous “luxury apartments” also will be part of the deal; no construction date has been announced.
Lincoln Property is the site developer, and Brown notes that Lincoln also owns the Lakewood Shopping Center and the Gaston-Garland corner formerly home to the White Rock YMCA.
Meanwhile, Trader Joe’s is turning dirt on the Lower Greenville site, with a spring opening expected there.
