The Libertine Bar’s staff and patrons recently had to say goodbye to mainstay and furry friend Tilt, who recently passed away after being hit by a car.

“His life with us was beautiful and full of belly rubs, treats and the most love any cat will ever know,” reads a statement on Tilt’s personal Instagram page on Nov. 16, which received 100 likes. “Please be sensitive to the staff as we go through this. He was our baby, and we are going to miss him dearly.”

According to @tiltstaverntales’ bio, the cat was “born next door but knew the bar was home! Now, (he spends his) days supervisin’ the staff, demandin’ belly rubs & makin’ sure everyone feels welcome.”

WFAA dedicated a story to Tilt and reported that the 2-year-old gray shorthair was the reason that some patrons stopped by the Lowest Greenville bar. He was named Tilt because of how he would tilt his head. Now that he’s gone, Tilt’s photo is posted by The Libertine’s door, and a charm hangs in one of his former perching spots.

Rest in peace, Tilt.
