LECPTA raises money for schools in the Woodrow Wilson High School feeder pattern. This year, the nonprofit also aims to make a $100,000 investment for phase two of the Lakewood Elementary Playground Project.

You can donate through July 11. As of July 3, over $2,000 has been raised toward the $10,000 goal.

Phase two is expected to create “an imaginative, sensory-rich play space created to encourage low-risk physical activity, cooperative group play and creative exploration” for children of all abilities, according to the campaign’s website.

“This campaign is a chance for all of us who care about Lakewood and East Dallas to come together and give back,” LECPTA President Jessica Edwards said in a press release. “When we invest in our schools and families, we’re investing in the future of our entire community.”

The icing on the cake?

“For every $250 donated, families will be entered into a drawing to name one of four new chicks in the Lakewood Elementary Chicken Coop,” reads the press release.
