Traveling Man
DART won national awards for two of the public art projects it has commissioned — Fair Park Station and the Traveling Man installation in Deep Ellum.
Americans for the Arts, a nonprofit that advances the arts, selected the projects from more than 300 entries in 29 cities. The works will be included in “2010 Public Art Year in Review”, a planning package for communities developing public art.
We were just talking about how nice the Fair Park Station looks during dinner at Pizza Lounge, across the street. The design from Brad and Diana Goldberg looks like it could have been built at the same time as Fair Park. And I’ve heard some groans about the Traveling Man sculptures, but I really like the whimsical design from Brandon Oldenburg and Brad Oldham, especially the little mirrored birds that go with him.
