Last Friday, the city of Dallas released the projects list for the 2024 Bond package for the May 4 election. Voters can access the list to view the amount of funding each section of the $1.25 billion bond will be allocated towards per district.

A spreadsheet mapping each project has been uploaded to the ​Office of Bond and Construction Management website. The project is subject to change every Friday as updates are required.

Funding is split between 10 categories — roads, parks, libraries, housing, homelessness, public safety, cultural arts facilities, flood protection and storm draining, economic development and city information technology.

Out of the 2024 Bond project, a multitude of projects are proposed to take place in East Dallas. A map of projects can be viewed here.

Here are some of the standout items for Lakewood/East Dallas voters according to City:

Library Facilities

$262,000 for Lakewood Library to upgrade its public restrooms and make it ADA-compliant. 

Street and Transportation

$500,000 for Skillman Street improvements from Live Oak Street to East Mockingbird Lane. The project will implement vision safety improvements as recommended in the ongoing Skillman Avenue Transportation Corridor Study.

$22.1 million for street completion from Lemmon/Haskell to Parry Street, including the installation of a protected two-way cycle track, recommended in the Dallas Bike Plan and The 360 Plan. It also includes improvements to paving and drainage, lighting, streetscape, intersections and crossings.

$1.3 million for Peaks Addition Historic Lighting project to install up to 100 historic-style street lights in the area bounded by the following streets: Gaston Avenue, Fitzhugh Avenue, Carroll Avenue and Columbia Avenue. 

Storm Drainage

$10 million for the third phase of Mill Creek Drainage Relief System, involving engineering for the remainder of the creek area including creek restoration and system improvements.

Cultural Arts Facilities

$1.4 million for Bath House Cultural Center to replace main switch gear, electrical panels, new roof, water infiltration and enhance exterior restoration to ensure historical accuracy of the original 1931 building.

Park & Recreation

$4 million for Dallas Arboretum upgrade to its main entrance, ticket booths, Rosine Hall, Terrace Restaurant, Sewell Board Room, gift store, admin office and staff facilities.

$20 million for dredging at White Rock Lake.

$2.5 million for trail improvements at White Rock Lake Trail located on the south end of White Rock Lake along Garland Road. It will address the erosion at the shoreline as it is in imminent danger of failing, according to the City.

$1 million for a new recreation center at Buckner-Forney.

These projects aim to enhance infrastructure, public amenities and community facilities in the area if the bond package is approved by voters. Early voting will be held from April 22-30.
