Update on Sept. 25: Another suspect, 21-year-old Patrick Russell, was arrested and will be charged with capital murder, Dallas Police say. They found Russell after lifting his fingerprints from the door of the victims’ car. You can see a copy of the Arrest affidavit here.

Update: The two men arrested are 19-year-old Dewen Vann Knight and 20-year-old Carl Russell, and both have been charged with capital murder. They, along with several other unknown suspects, tried to rob the two men inside the car when “an exchange of gunfire” occurred, leaving the two victims dead and one of the suspects injured. The victims still have not been identified.

Original post: Two unidentified men in their 20s were shot and killed inside a vehicle Thursday night in the 7100 block of San Mateo. That’s the San Mateo Forest apartment complex, which is nestled in the Hollywood/Santa Monica neighborhood near Lindsley Park.

According to the police reports, the shooting happened at around 11 p.m. One man was dead on arrival, and the other died at Baylor Hospital later that evening.

WFAA reported this morning that two suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting while the actual gunman may still be at large. Police also are investigating whether the incident was drug-related.
