It’s usually my job every month or so to tell you about interesting restaurants in East Dallas and Lakewood. But this month, it’s your turn.
How’s that for an introduction to the first Advocate Readers’ Taste Awards.
We’d like you to tell us about your favorite neighborhood restaurants.
Where do you like to eat Chinese food, for example, or what is your favorite restaurant when the kids are along? What’s your favorite down-home cooking, and where do you go for an expensive date/night out? How about your favorite hamburger place? Mexican? Pizza? Health-food? Fast-food? Italian? Your favorite neighborhood bar? The best place to get food without leaving your car?
Just make a note of the categories, jot down a few of your favorites and send them to us. Remember: You can vote for one restaurant several times in several different categories. As a special incentive, several entrants will be drawn at random to receive a free dinner for two donated by neighborhood restaurants.
And don’t just tell us that you like Barbec’s, for example – tell us why you like the restaurant. Is it the price? The atmosphere? The food? The location? The friendly staff?
Deadline for entries is September 30, 1992, with results and winners to be announced in the November 1992 Advocate. (Select restaurants within an area bounded by North Central Expressway, LBJ 635 and Interstate 30.)
So get out your pen (or computer, if your handwriting isn’t legible), and we’ll let you be the restaurant critic, for a change. If you don’t want your name used with the story and/or your comments, let us know.
