The new sign at YMCA at White Rock, at Gaston Avenue near Garland Road, is up and running.
Now passers by can see electronic announcements about White Rock YMCA swimming lessons, camps and events across the bottom of the new 22.5-foot-tall LED sign, donated by Mark Mills, near the Gaston Avenue entrance. Just try not to let it divert your attention from the road.
The new sign has been under discussion for years, and board chairman Richard Vitale credits board member Santos Martinez for doing the necessary legwork to get the sign design approved by the city and ready for construction.
