St.Pauls_CathedralMy January magazine column discusses that uniquely Dallas fixation, our quest to become a world-class city – as if it’s something one can buy at the store like milk or hot dogs. Various mayors and city officials have been lusting after this for at least two decades, which surprised even me (and we all know how difficult it is for them to surprise me any more).

The point, of course, is that there is a difference between becoming a great city and what we have been trying to do here. Hopefully, we’ll elect someone one of these days who understands the difference.
