This project is part of ongoing maintenance work and included dam and spillway concrete repairs, slope stabilization improvements and vegetation management within the footprint of the dam.

The construction access road will stay, and the Old Fish Hatchery is now open, along with the parts of the White Rock Lake Trail on the dam.

Now, the contractor is removing all construction equipment, the temporary fence and trail closure signs.

Some other White Rock Lake updates to know:

Dallas Park and Recreation staff are monitoring the bald eagle nesting activities. If the eagles lay eggs, additional measures will be implemented to protect those nesting areas.

Winter shoreline maintenance around the west side of the lake is still happening.

Work on the White Rock Lake Trail from the Bath House to Winfrey Point is continuing. Asphalt on the road near Dreyfus Point was repaired in preparation for trail closures.

Staff members visited the site of the old Dreyfus Point building after several people asked about closing off the area to cars and turning it into a picnic spot. According to the District 9 City Council newsletter, something will eventually happen to this area. But until a plan is approved by all necessary parties and funding is identified, we’re not sure how exactly it will be addressed.
