Woodrow Wilson High School’s Mock Trial team placed in the top eight of 20 Dallas ISD schools in the regional Texas High School Mock Trial Competition on Jan. 26.

The Wildcats now advance to the regional quarterfinals to be held Thursday, Jan. 31, at the George L. Allen Courthouse at 6 p.m.

Team members include Stephanie Arnold, Erin Choi, Griffith England, Maren Kauffman, Cal Little, Agnes Onuoha, Leslie Scherger, Kimberly Tepera, Luke Whitten, and Matt Ziegler. Alternates are Gunnar Duke, Peyton Merritt, Oliver Milici, Maria Reynoso, Michael Tepera, and Ashley Watson.

The team is sponsored by Woodrow alumna Catherine Pate. The coaches are Mike Buchanan, and Woodrow alums Adam Greenfield and Ed Cloutman.

_DSC1902The Woodrow Wilson Wildcats Boys and Girls swim teams swam away with District 13-4A trophies and titles on Jan. 24, at the Alfred J. Loos Natatorium.

The boys swim team was led by Max Zotos, Noah Thompson, Colin Weimer, and Zane Wright. As a relay team, this group finished first place in the 400m freestyle relay and second place in the 200m medley relay.

Individually, Zotos won the 100m backstroke and 200m medley; Thompson won the 50m and 100m freestyle; and Weimer won the 100m butterfly. Wright placed second in both the 500m freestyle and 100m breast stroke.

Other notable swims were by Cole Burnam who placed second in both the 100m butterfly and 200m freestyle. Jake Tarpley placed third in the 200m freestyle and Andrew Kavas placed third in the 100m freestyle. The team of Grant Garcia, Chad Woods, Corbin Ray and Alex Betzer placed second in the 100m freestyle relay.

The girls swim team, led by twin sisters Olivia and Samantha Schoenecker, Greer Lambert, and Stephanie Arnold, took first place in both the team 200m medley relay and team 400m freestyle relay.

Individually, Olivia Schoenecker took first place in both the 200m and 500m freestyle; Greer Lambert took first place in the 100m butterfly and 100m breast stroke; and Samantha Schoenecker took first place in the 100m freestyle and placed second in the 50m freestyle.

Other notable swims were by Rachel Braun, who placed second place in both the 100m breast stroke and 200m medley, Erin McStravick, Erin Choi, Hannah Louis, and Lauren Luna had third place finishes and the relay team of McStravick, Luna, Braun, and Louis placed second in the 200m freestyle relay.
