Last week, the current TAKS test scores were released. These were preliminary numbers that have to be "tweaked" through a process that remains a mystery to most of us. In any case, it has come to my attention that the latest adjusted test results, which should be released by tomorrow, will reveal that Woodrow has met the requirements for "Academically Acceptable" under the Texas Education Agency’s accountability rating system.

You may recall the furor created in February when Woodrow was targeted for reconstitution due to two consecutive years of an "Academically Unacceptable" designation. This is a great achievement at an urban school and we heard only last Tuesday from the Principal how this would only be a step towards the academic excellence they seek, not the goal.

Congratulations to Principal Ruth Vail and her dedicated staff and faculty. Just one more reason to "Choose Woodrow", I guess.
