Campbell Chase, a junior at Woodrow, is among 50 swimmers and divers from across the country who meet the criteria for this year’s Girls Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Year Award.

USA Today’s official High School Sports Awards Girls Swimming & Diving Team will be announced this spring, and the 25 team members will be nominees for Athlete of the Year. The winner will be announced during the awards show this summer.

Students from Mansfield, McKinney, San Antonio and The Woodlands were also named to the watch list, selected because they were nominees in last year’s national awards show or were considered based on season-wide performance, state championships or some other state, regional or national recognition.

Chase is a three-time state champ in the 200 individual medley. At the UIL 5A State Swimming and Diving Championships this year, she also won the silver in the 100 breaststroke.
