Woodrow Wilson High School principal Ruth Vail reportedly has been ordered to make plans to eliminate 10 to 12 teaching positions as the school’s contribution to the $64 million budgeting error. The school already has been ordered to whittle its school supply budget (paper, etc.) to help reduce the shortfall. No word on which positions are being considered, but earlier DISD directives said any reductions would come from core teaching positions rather than from the counseling, athletics or ROTC departments. Of course, all of this could change later today after DISD’s 2 p.m. board meeting discussing the shortfall and DISD’s plans to move forward. The meeting at DISD headquarters, 3700 Ross, is open to the public and also includes a closed-door session on personnel, presumably Supt. Michael Hinojosa’s status.
