Woodrow graduate Jessica Barrera, who last year was crowned Miss Rio Grand Valley, will compete in the Miss Texas pageant next week in Arlington. The winner will go on to represent Texas in the Miss America pageant.
Jessica worked tirelessly to get to get to the state-level competition, mom Donna Guajardo says. “She placed in Miss Irving (1st runner-up), Miss Texarkana (1st runner-up), Miss White Rock Lake (2nd runner-up) and Miss Dallas (3rd runner-up), and was determined to continue until she was crowned. She has worked very hard and has a lot of work ahead of her, Guajardo says.
The Miss Texas contestants will be judged on their interviews with a panel of judges, talent (Jessica is a vocalist), evening gown, swimsuit and on-stage question.
