Two Woodrow debaters — Frances Desmond and Magdalena Ramirez — won the Building Leagues Breakout Division for newer Urban Debate Leagues at the urban national debate tournament in New York City recently. Teams from 19 cities were represented at the tournament; the team is coached by Woodrow teacher Robert Hearne.
In other Woodrow news, a meeting discussing the upcoming bond improvements to Woodrow and neighboring J.L. Long Middle School will be held tonight at Long’s auditorium, 6116 Reiger. Representatives from DISD will be discussing the building plans for each school. The event was set up by Long SBDM chairman Vince Murchison.
