As a precaution, activities on the water were canceled for the weekend last week, interrupting important rowing preparation and sailing activities. But the sewage never made it to the lake. It was contained within a mile of the original spill near George Bush Turnpike in Plano.

But with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms for Wednesday, authorities needed a way to get the sewage out of the creek before it washed downstream.

The North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) partnered with the City of Dallas and worked all day and night over the weekend to pump the sewage from the creek and into Dallas’ wastewater management system, according to NTWMD.

With temperatures peaking in the mid 90s all week, stagnating sewage was sure to fester. The lake is open for all activities for your Fourth of July holiday.
