The White Rock Lake Conservancy is asking the Park Department to form a committee to debate and solve parking woes at the lake.

“The recent Winfrey Point controversy highlights in an acute way the need for a long-term solution to address the increasing popularity of White Rock Lake Park,” a media release from the conservancy states. “A solution satisfactory to all of the Lake’s important constituents, and the citizens of Dallas, can’t be achieved without additional investigation, robust debate and a strict adherence to transparency and inclusion.”

The conservancy’s task force would work with neighbors, the Dallas Arboretum and other stakeholders to find solutions to parking demands, according to the release.

“Particular attention and sensitivity should be focused on Winfrey Point and balancing the needs of area residents, the environment, the Arboretum and the City of Dallas, on behalf of all citizens.”
