The forecast for this weekend is cool temperatures and sunny skies, perfect for a long walk, a brisk jog or a bike ride around the neighborhood. East Dallas has plenty of places for that, like White Rock Lake or the Santa Fe Trail.

Tonight, Marie Gabrielle Restaurant and Gardens will be filled with neighbors donning far-out bell bottoms, tie-dye, likely anything with fringes. It’s not because they just really love vintage clothing. It’s Lakewoodstock, the LECPTA’s fundraising event that goes right along with the home tour.

Not that we need a reason to play nice, but Saturday is World Kindness Day. Maybe make an extra effort to show some love to friends and strangers.

Today is Friday, so let’s celebrate the wins. And if you’re in need of some plans for this weekend, here are a few ideas.

Stay groovy, neighbors.

Praise the Lake

The eighth-annual Praise the Lake event is on this weekend. Hosted by the White Rock Lake Foundation at the Filter Building, neighbors can enjoy brunch and cocktails and listen to live music.

Tickets are available here for $125. Free valet will be offered for guests. The event is noon-3 p.m. on Nov. 14 at 2810 White Rock Road.

The nonprofit is celebrating 25 years of caring for the lake and more than 300 Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce Up events.

Lakewood Brewery is sponsoring the event, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Nov. 13. More information can be found here.

Holiday at the Arboretum

It’s the opening weekend for Holiday at the Arboretum.

Stop by to see familiar favorites like the 12 Days of Christmas homes and the Christmas Village. New this year is the 50-foot-tall musical tree, which has 42,000 lights.

Members and non-members are required to reserve tickets in advance.
