matt&ben4This weekend, Echo Theatre presents the comedy spoof MATT & BEN, which tells the “true” story of how Matt Damon & Ben Affleck wrote their Academy Award-winning movie, Good Will Hunting. Written by Mindy Kaling and Brenda Withers, it’s an alternate-reality comedy about two actors as played by two actresses. The play is directed by Kelly Thomas, and stars Catherine DuBord as Matt Damon and Miller Pyke as Ben Affleck. It’s at Bath House Cultural Center at 521 E. Lawther. Also at the Bath House, this is your last weekend to walk through the “Nature in my Art: Recent Artwork by Pavlina Panova” exhibition at the Bath House Cultural Center. The exhibition, which consists of intricate pieces created from elements of nature, such as leaves, bark and wood shavings, is on display through Sept. 29. Today, Sept. 26 Alley’s House, a neighborhood nonprofit that offers pregnancy support, is hosting a benefit luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The luncheon is the one of the main sources of funding for Alley’s House. All of the proceeds from the luncheon go directly to funding the program. The luncheon is at Holiday Inn Park Cities at 6070 North Central. SFD 165 WINTERS TALE small“A sad tale’s best for winter,” so Shakespeare Dallas will present The Winter’s Tale to kick off the cooler season. This production will close out Shakespeare in the Park’s 2013 season, with performances at both Samuell Grand and Addison Circle Parks. Performances began Sept. 18 and will run through Sept. 28 at the Samuell Grand Amphitheatre, 1500 Tenison Parkway in Dallas, then from Oct. 2-13 at Addison Circle Park, 4970 Addison Circle. All shows begin at 8 p.m.

White Rock Coffee is hosting two musical events. The first is during their Friday night date night, with Randal Dean. The second is on Saturday with Joe Phillips. Check out the website for more.

Today, Sept. 26, Henderson hotspot The Gin Mill is celebrating the 2nd anniversary of the speakeasy-inspired restaurant and bar with The Bootlegger’s Ball from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Admission is free and 1920’s, Prohibition era attire is encouraged.
