Bayles Elementary School principal Maria Tafur cut her long hair Wednesday to celebrate her school’s success on TAKS testing. The school’s test scores averaged above 85 in reading, writing and math. They scored 75 in science, but that’s OK. The school still is expected to get a Recognized rating from the Texas Education Agency.

Tafur challenged students last year to score above 85 on the TAKS, and promised to cut her hair on the last day of school if they did it. They didn’t meet the goal last year, so Tafur’s hair kept growing. On Wednesday, she finally got to cut it. The look on her face tells you how proud she is of these kids. The hair was donated to Locks of Love.
