Today, Lakewood Elementary School is undergoing extensive remodeling to expand and upgrade facilities to meet the increased demand. But back in the 1950s, it was a brand new neighborhood school.
That’s when this home movie was filmed, showing Lakewood kids in retro fashions (those sunglasses, though!) frolicking on the field, under the watchful eye of teachers with fabulous hair. Reader Lonnie Wiggins posted it to our Facebook page, with the note: “Film my brother shot during field day in 1954; I would have been in the fourth grade.”
