We’ve been following the cat slayings all summer here on this blog, on our Far North Dallas blog, and most recently on our Preston Hollow blog after two cats turned up dead there earlier this week.

The police have now set up a task force to investigate all these cat slayings. Some neighbors have suggested these deaths are the work of coyotes, but if someone actually is killing these cats, it’s a felony.

Police do not want neighbors to call animal services if they find a dead cat. Instead, they are asking neighbors to save the cat remains in a box and call 911. The police will need to examine those remains as part of their investigation.

Police have also set up a tip line for anyone who has information: 214.672.0567.

A Preston Hollow neighbor recently reported her encounter with a suspicious person she thinks might be related to the cat slayings. You can read that account here.
