For the Woodrow Wilson High School tennis team, Monday wasn’t just another win, it was a step closer to becoming regional champs.
Currently, the team has remained undefeated and, according to coach Alexandra Graves, they’re now ready to keep winning.
The team is currently the Dallas Independent School District 12 5-A champions.
The Wildcats won the UIL District 12 5-A Championship before their latest win at Kiest Park in Oak Cliff for the area rounds. The team’s fall season 5-A regional playoffs will take place on Oct. 27-28 with the team heading to state if they win.
Graves, who is in her second year of coaching, said last year the team made it to the area tournament but lost in the first round. But this year she’s feeling confident about where they’ll be going.
“I’m so proud of them, this is pretty amazing,” Graves says. “Not a single kid lost at the area tournament over the past two days and in total, during the season, we only lost two matches.”
