As 2016 takes its final breath, it snuffs out two more Dallas eateries this week.
First up, Clark Food and Wine will serve its last plates today, Dec. 27. It’s just a month after chef/owner Randall Warder closed his other Greenville operation C’Viche Tequila Bar, the seafood restaurant next door. According to CultureMap, a yet-to-be-named restaurant group approached Warder interested in the prime spot at 1920 Greenville Ave. While Clark Food and Wine only opened in 2014, it made a big impression, earning a slew of awards including Best New Restaurant in the competitive CultureMap Tastemaker Awards.
Clark is just the latest closures on our neighborhood’s trendiest street this year. Remedy announced plans to close and then reopen with a new concept, Knuckles barely lasted the summer, and Café Brazil shuttered its operations in May. This opens the door for a slew of new of eateries to open in 2017.
Up at increasingly hip Peavy-Garland, Austin-darling Cow Tipping Creamery will keep serving fro-yo until they run out, then close the doors. What began as a popular food truck morphed into a permanent location at 1146 Peavy in March, but the business never seemed to find its audience. “If our Instagram comments are to be believed, there are thousands of people that ‘have been meaning to try CTC,’ but still have not made the journey to East Dallas…” the shops marketing director Jeff Amador told the Dallas Observer.
