Two White Rock area homes are included in the National Association of Homebuilder’s Tour of Green Homes Friday. The tour is part of the association’s annual Green Building Conference at the Hilton Anatole, which ends Sunday.

Bailey Family Builders has a home under construction at 5 Nonesuch Road, which is part of the tour. The home is getting energy efficient heating and air conditioning systems, an external hybrid hot water heater, foam insulation and many more green features.

Bailey is building the luxury home for an international attorney. “It’ll be really unique,” said principal T.W. Bailey. “I can tell you that when you walk into the entryway of the house, you won’t be inside the house, you’ll be in the garage, which is room-finished to house a car collection and art work.”

Ferrier Custom Homes in Fort Worth built a house on Northcliff Drive, which also is on the tour. The people at Ferrier couldn’t get back to me in time for this blog posting – they are probably busy getting ready for the home tour – but the brochure description says the home was “designed on an infill lot to showcase green building systems, including structural insulated panels, insulated concrete forms, spray foam insulation … tree preservation, regionally harvested cabinetry, low-flow plumbing fixtures, native landscaping, pervious driveway,” and more.

The Northcliff Drive home won the NAHB’s Energy Value Housing Award in 2006.

Guest and student passes to the conference are available for $150.
