Join me in congratulating our graduating seniors in the Class of 2022! Graduates, you’ve taken the first big step toward adulthood and you’re on your way. No matter what path you choose, I trust that the education you’ve received during these past 12 years will serve you well.

Superintendent’s Scholarships

Seventy-eight outstanding graduating seniors in Dallas ISD earned a total $238,000 in scholarships funded through the annual Superintendent’s Scholarship Golf Tournament. Two members of the Teen Board were awarded $5,000 Leadership Scholarships and 76 students – including two from District 2 – each earned $3,000 Superintendent’s Scholarships. Our District 2 scholars are Marharyta Baravok of Hillcrest High and Luisa Sukkar of Woodrow Wilson. Congratulations, all!

Sole Finalist for Dallas ISD Superintendent

Stephanie Elizalde has been unanimously chosen by the Board of Trustees as the sole finalist to be the next superintendent for Dallas ISD. Dr. Elizalde, the current superintendent in Austin Independent School District, previously served as the chief of school leadership for Dallas ISD. Superintendent Michael Hinojosa, who has led our district for a total of 13 years, will serve as emeritus superintendent during the transition, helping to ensure a smooth handoff.

Summer Breeze

Students in Pre-K through high school will be able to partake in fun summer learning activities and other enrichment activities in June and July. As part of the district’s free summer school programs, students will have a chance to connect with their peers, accelerate learning, and improve their social and emotional well-being. Summer Meals

To ensure that all students stay nourished during the break, children younger than 18 and students up to 21 years old with disabilities are invited to enjoy healthy summer meals at no cost. Starting June 6, selected Dallas ISD schools are serving meals on site Monday through Thursday. Breakfast is from 7 to 9 a.m., and lunch is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. To learn more, visit www.dallasisd.org/fcns.

Have a happy, safe and healthy summer break!
