Our educators in District 2 schools are among the best in Dallas ISD. At the inaugural Educator of the Year awards, the leader of one of our schools was named a Principal of the Year, and a teacher from our District was chosen as a Teacher of the Year. It can’t get much better than that!

Michael Jackson, founding principal at Sudie L. Williams Talented and Gifted Academy, was named the Principal of the Year in the Choice/Magnet school category. He is the founding principal of Sudie L. Williams Talented and Gifted Academy, where he has served for the past four years.

Also in the Choice/Magnet category, Aaronda Smith, an instructor of Honors 8th grade Reading Language Arts at George Bannerman Dealey Montessori and Vanguard Academy, was named Teacher of the Year.

Two other District 2 teachers were finalists for Teacher of the Year. They are:

  • On the secondary level, Anais Childress, who teaches International Baccalaureate History and African American Studies at Hillcrest High School and currently serves as an assistant principal intern.
  • And, in the Choice/Magnet category, Natalia Rodriguez Perez, a founding math teacher at Dallas Hybrid Preparatory at Stephen J. Hay.

We are so proud of these outstanding educators and all their colleagues who serve our students every day!
