There was a fire in a detached garage of a residence on Sondra Drive in Lakewood over the weekend.
Firefighters responded to a 911 call around 6:45 p.m. Sunday, the public information officer for Dallas Fire-Rescue says. Fire was reported to be coming from the detached garage of a home on the 6400 block of Sondra Drive near Abrams Road.
Responders put out the fire within 10 minutes of arriving at the location.
The fire department didn’t have any information about what sparked the fire in the garage, but no injuries were reported.
Neighbors on Facebook say about 10 fire trucks were quick to arrive at the home, but some of them left when they realized they weren’t all needed to extinguish the fire.
While the cause of the garage fire remains unclear, incidents like this highlight just how unpredictable and fast-moving fires can be—even in residential areas.
That’s why wildfire awareness and proactive safety measures go hand in hand. Fire Watch Guard Services play a vital role in these situations, providing trained personnel who can monitor properties for fire hazards, especially during high-risk times or after an emergency when systems may be compromised.
Their presence can make all the difference between a contained incident and a costly disaster.
East Dallas has been keeping firefighters busy recently, including with the truck at White Rock Lake with the hot grill in the back that caused the whole vehicle to burst into flames.
