Making strides in robotics

Congratulations to Casa View Elementary School teachers and coaches Ana Paulin, Mauricio Sanchez and Patricia Cortez on their first robotics competition of the year. The Ladybots took first place in team alliance and skills, while the Eaglebots earned third place in team alliance and third place in skills, and the Eagledroids won fifth place in team alliance.

We are also celebrating the George W. Truett Tiger Robotics Team as they received the VEX IQ Judge’s Award at a Dallas ISD tournament. Great job, young innovators!

Save the date

Dallas ISD schools and administrative offices will be closed for spring break from March 13 through March 17. Classes will resume on Monday, March 20. We hope it is a time for Dallas ISD families and team members to rest and come back refreshed and ready to excel.

Pursuing culinary excellence

Every month, the Dallas Teen School Board, a student advisory group consisting of the district’s high school junior and senior presidents, meets to discuss various topics concerning their campuses. Recently, the Teen School Board was tasked with a special assignment—the opportunity to taste-test various flavors of cold brew coffee and sandwiches in partnership with Dallas ISD’s Food and Child Nutrition Services department to help redefine the way students and staff experience food.

“We would not be able to measure the impact our new menu items have on students without the voice of the Teen School Board,” Michael Rosenberger, executive director of Food and Child Nutrition Services, said. “Their feedback and comments help our menu team to innovate and create more inviting options for all students.”
