District 3 schools earn top rankings

The research and advocacy nonprofit CHILDREN AT RISK recently recognized several Dallas ISD schools as the Dallas and Fort Worth area’s top high, middle and elementary schools. Alex Sanger Preparatory and Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary School were named Top 5 Gold Ribbon schools.

CHILDREN AT RISK ranks all Texas elementary and middle schools across three main areas, and all high schools across four main areas: student achievement, campus performance, student growth and college readiness. Congratulations to all of the campuses that earned the distinction.

Promoting literacy in classrooms

It was an honor to read to students at Casa View Elementary School, Alex Sanger Preparatory and Martha Turner Reilly Elementary School in honor of Read Across America day. Principal Martinez talked me into donning his Cat in the Hat costume. It was a fun day celebrating students and fostering a love of reading.

Celebrating the teachers of the future

The 2023 Letter of Intent Celebration for Dallas ISD P-TECH and Early College High School – Education Pathway Students was a success. Current Dallas ISD students in the education pathway at Bryan Adams High School Leadership Academy, Lincoln High School and Humanities/Communications Magnet, W.T. White High School, Sunset High School, and W.W. Samuell High School received job offers to return to the district as teachers upon successful completion of their four-year college degree.

Students in the program can earn two years of college credit while still in high school through the district’s early college program with Dallas College.

Making STEM #GirlPowered

Casa View Elementary School’s LadyBots team won the Girl Powered Challenge and became the first in their district to qualify for the VEX Robotics World Championship. Thank you to their coach, Patricia Cortez, for her commitment to empowering and inspiring more girls to pursue STEM pathways!
