Isaac Kadane, a May graduate, has become the seventh member of his family to earn a diploma from First Baptist Academy.
He is the son of Debbie and Sheffield Kadane Jr., longtime residents of Lakewood. Isaac was active in yearbook, Student Council, and theater during his FBA years. He will attend Baylor University.
Other Kadanes who are FBA alums include: Sheffield Asa Kadane III (’81), Stephanie Kadane Heppes (’83), Debra Kadane Lester (’86), Asa Kadane (’89), Paul Kadane (’91) and Adam Kadane (’92).
The academy has a Downtown and an East Dallas campus. Future academy students may still see the Kadane name as they use the plaza between Ervay and St. Paul that is dedicated Òin memory of Sheffield Asa Kadane Sr. for the work he did in securing this areaÓ from the City in exchange for what is now San Jacinto Street.
His widow Elizabeth lives with Sheffield and Debbie in Lakewood. She has 23 grandchildren (14 of whom attended FBA) and 34 great-grandchildren.
“It has been great having all my kids at FBA,” says Sheffield. “Each one has been involved in all parts of school life and what they have learned about the Lord has helped make them strong individuals.”
