Celebrate 70 years of fun at Tietze Splash this Saturday from 2-4 p.m. There will be a groundbreaking for the new facility as well as one final free swim in the historic pool before the city remakes the space into the Tietze Park Neighborhood Family Aquatic Center. The area will be decorated with memories and photos of the last 70 years. Taylor Young established folk duo The O’s with Woodrow Wilson graduate John Pedigo in 2008. He performs a free solo set with guest appearances from a few friends at the Granada Theater on Thursday night 9 p.m.

Help out Texans Can Academy with a back-to-school drive, Countdown to Class 2018, for students who need help buying school clothes for the new school year. The drive runs for a couple more weeks. 

Head to The Point at C.C.Young to learn how astronauts are able to operate in zero gravity with C.C. Young resident and expert Bill McMillin, who helped developed the Astronaut Maneuvering Unit for the Gemini Space Program. The free presentation is Friday at 3:30 p.m.

The Granada Theater is hosting Marilyn Hanson for a 90’s Prom on Friday at 7 p.m. There will be a costume contest, and the winner could be crowned prom queen or king. Tickets are $15-$29.

At the Dallas Arboretum, $2 will get you into the garden for all of August, with $5 parking and $2 admission to the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden. In the adventure garden, enjoy an interactive puppet show on Saturday at 10 a.m. about metamorphosis.
