How would you like to make one of the biggest decisions of your life in front of television cameras, college coaches and representatives, and a huge crowd filling an auditorium? For top tier college athletes, the first week of February brings National Signing Day, where they do just that.
National Signing Day takes place in different schools and districts all over the country where athletes sign a letter of tntent to the college of their choosing. It can be a nerve-wracking time for coaches who have been recruiting these athletes, yet don’t know their decision, as well as students who are making a very public declaration of their intentions. For these athletes, their work in high school leads to a chance to play at the next level and get an education while they are at it.

Woodrow Wilson High School has three football players attending Dallas ISD National Signing Day festivities at Ellis Davis Field House. Top receiver Justin Cain will be staying local and signing for the University of North Texas, an NCAA Division I program. Darrion Green, who we wrote about last summer, is signing for Galludet University in Washington, D.C., a unique NCAA Division III school for the deaf and hard of hearing. Green starred for Woodrow as a running back and defensive back, and is also part of the deaf cohort of students that attend Woodrow Wilson and its feeder pattern. Rance Albert, a linebacker for the wildcats, will be signing for Earlham College, an NCAA Division III school in Richmond, Ind.
In an email, head coach football coach Bob Estes, congratulated and encouraged the players to stay focused, “Please congratulate these Wildcats while encouraging our seniors to continue to hone their craft and focus academically as they prepare for their future.”
