You might want to skip making big plans this Saturday morning, Feb. 4, the Hot Chocolate 15k/5k is blocking off streets all across Munger Place and Lakewood. Closures will begin at 7 a.m. and last until 11:15 a.m. in some areas (see the schedule below).
The marathon begins and ends at Fair Park, but runners will loop under I-30 on Haskell, before cutting up through our neighborhoods and then heading back down the Santa Fe Trail. That’s according to the course map provided, which does clearly state “subject to change.”
What bills itself as the “Sweetest Race in America” draws thousands of runners, and takes place in cities all over the country. The race will include hot chocolate stations littered throughout the course, so maybe they’ll share the sweetness with spectators. The 5k launches at 7:30 a.m. while the 15k steps off at 8:15 a.m.
