The Dallas Running Club Tal Morrison 15K/5K Classic is Saturday at 8 a.m. at Winfrey Point on White Rock Lake — the weather will be temperate and the cost is only $10 (free if you become a DRC member), so there is really no excuse not to sign up … unless you plain hate running. Then you can just come out for the sunshine, good vibes and surrounding festivities.

Non- and novice runners may ask, who is Tal Morrison? Only like the Yoda of running. He founded the Dallas Running Club in 1970 and the White Rock Marathon in 1971.

Morrison, now 80-something, plans on attending this weekend’s event, where he will present college scholarships to several DISD high school senior cross-country runners —a large portion of said scholarship money comes from the popular DRC Half Marathon held each November.

Find out all you need to know about the race and scholarship fund here. Here is a link to a nice little bio about Morrison himself. I’ll return Monday with a race report and maybe even some photos (depending on how I feel following the 9.2 miles).
