Half Price Books welcomes local poets to open mike night Friday at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, there are parades in Lakewood and Little Forest Hills. The Hillside Independence Day Breakfast and Parade starts at 9 a.m. (an hour before Lakewood’s) at 6463 Lange Circle, and will feature coffee from White Rock Coffee.
The Lakewood Country Club has a fireworks show this year, as usual, on Sunday, July 4.
The city’s fireworks show was almost canceled and then changed to Monday, July 5 at Fair Park.
