This Saturday, June 8, Woodrow Wilson High School graduating class of 2015 is hosting a garage sale fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of St. Matthew’s Church at 5100 Ross, near the intersection of Ross and Greenville. If you’d like to drop off donations, you can go to St. Matthew’s Church today, June 6, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Or you can drop items off at 7 a.m. the day of the sale. Items will be stored inside on Thursday and Friday and brought outside to sell on Saturday morning.

Also within the realm of education, if you are the parent of a student at Stonewall Jackson Elementary,  Stonewall is hosting a meet and greet for the new principal, Mrs. Hill, tomorrow, June 7, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Stonewall Library. It’s an informal event, so come and go as you wish.

418370_10150589031560823_443980570_nThis Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Operation Kindness is hosting the 19th annual Dog Day afternoon fundraising at Flag Pole Hill. There will be Dallas Dog Disc Club performances, pet CPR demonstrations (the Pooch Smooch contest is separate from this,) live music, food trucks, advice from professional dog trainers, and face painting for the kids. Get a schedule of the day’s events here. This Saturday, Dr. Alan Miller, chief of Oncology and medical director of Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center at Dallas, and several other doctors are diving into their jobs – literally – to support Swim Across America (SAA), an open water swim that will benefit the Innovative Clinical Trials Center (ICTC) at Baylor Sammons Cancer Center at Dallas. This year, the team has set a goal to raise $25,000, and they have currently raised more than $21,000. Last year, the team raised more than $21,000 for SAA. Check out more here.
