Before launching into the weekend round up, I’ve got a couple of things happening tonight you should definitely know about. Unfortunately, you’ll have to decide between the two, and it’s a tough choice. First, for a little food for the body and for the soul, a dinner to benefit the Promise of Peace Community Garden is tonight from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Central 214. Also, there’s a waiting list for the free screening of Miss Representation tonight, but if you call soon, you might be able to squeeze in. Reservations are required, so give a shout to 214.525.5314.
Another event this weekend you don’t want to miss is the Human Rights DocU Film Festival at Angelika Film Center & Cafe in Mockingbird Station. Tickets for the annual event are $10 each or $24 for a weekend pass. Click for more.
For college students, or the parents of college students, the Sorority Recruitment Forum is on Sunday, Feb. 10. Ever wonder if it’s a good idea to rush, or how to register? Do you have concerns about hazing or alcohol? Bring all your questions about sorority rush to Northway Christian Church at 7272 W. Northwest Hwy, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
And get your running shoes ready, the Hot Chocolate 15/5K has made it to Dallas. The expo is at Fair Park on Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday is the race and post-race party in the Fair Park Automobile Building.
