Love fresh produce? Starting this weekend, July 13 and running through July 27, the White Rock Local Market is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join local farmers, artisans and more for a neighborhood farmers market and purchase a variety of items — from fresh bread from the Village Baking Company to locally-made organic bug traps. Located at Green Spot Market & Fuels, 702 N. Buckner.
Mother Nature needs a hug from you, your family and your friends this weekend. After every heavy rain, the lake has a ring around it that cannot be flushed away, which is why organizations like For the Love of the Lake work so hard to recruit volunteers to help pick up debris. For the Love of the Lake’s Second Saturday Shoreline Spruce-up is this weekend, and they are asking that you and your neighbors join them. From 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. this Saturday, July 13, they’ll host breakfast and then head out to the lake for recycle and trash clean-up. Afterwards, there will be lunch from Campisi’s and some bite-sized sweets from Nothing Bundt Cakes. The For the Love of the Lake office is at 1152 N. Buckner, under Another Broken Egg Cafe.
Here’s one for you runners. Join the Dash for the Trash, hosted by Luke’s Locker at White Rock Lake Doctors Hospital at 9440 Poppy Drive at 7 a.m. this Saturday, July 13. Proceeds from event are to benefit For the Love of the Lake at White Rock Lake Park. New Balance will have giveaways and more (a tech tee will be sold for $15 to commemorate the date, so don’t be late). Visit the event Facebook page for more information. To contact them, email JD Gonzalez, Events Manager & Community Outreach Guru: firstname.lastname@example.org. Or call Luke’s Locker – The Dallas Store at 3046 Mockingbird Lane, phone 214.528.1290.
Last weekend Contemporary Theater of Dallas began its run of the play Children of a Lesser God, which has gotten great reviews. It’s running until July 28. They have shows on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m, or Sunday at 2 p.m. You can find out more and buy tickets on their website.
This Saturday, July 13, from noon to 4 p.m., Animal Allies is hosting a storefront adoption event in Casa Linda Plaza, at 1152 North Buckner, Suite 122. (Downstairs from Another Broken Egg Cafe.) Drop by for some puppy kisses, and maybe you’ll meet your new best friend!
