Got my first mayoral mailing over the weekend, which probably sets some sort of record for an early start. The election, after all, isn’t until May 12.
The go getter was Tom Leppert, a self-described construction CEO, and he has enough money to send a four-page full-color mailing. He has an interesting list of supporters — Earle Nye of TXU and Hiawatha Williams of Williams Chicken fame among them. The rest of it was the usual sort of stuff, though: a business-minded approach to government, protecting our tax dollars, and a Roger Staubach endorsement. This does not bode well for an interesting and effective campaign.
