If the nippy February weather isn’t enough to lure you into a cozy dive-bar, adding puppies and chili might seal the deal.
The Goat is hosting a chili cook-off next Saturday, Feb. 23, from 2 p.m-4 p.m, according to a flier taped to front doors in the area. (It’s always fun to receive a handbill from your local dive bar.) Cook-off participants will need to pay the bartender in advance. It is $10 to enter and $5 to be an official judge.
Customers will receive happy hour pricing and free warm fuzzies knowing that the chili cook-off proceeds are benefiting local area rescue group White Rock Dog. White Rock Dog strives to help people who find animals found around White Rock Lake and East Dallas by promoting rescued animals, providing low cost vetting, training animals, fostering and re-homing. The rescue group also will be accepting donations on the day of the cook off for dog food, harnesses, plastic crates and puppy treats.
The Goat is located at 7248 Gaston Avenue and is open from 7 a.m.-2 a.m. Monday through Saturday and noon-2 a.m. Sunday.
